Built in 1884, this are the first public steam baths of Arad that offered all the modern ammenities of its time. Located on Unirii Street, in a central and very circulated area of 19th century Arad, Simay Baths will enjoy a huge popularity and will also launch a trend that will expand throughout central Arad until late interwar period. The inner courtyard exhibited a fountain, 337 meters deep, that provided the thermal water for the baths and pools, but also the gas needed for heating of the boilers, for lighting and heating the building. In 1902 a second fountain was drilled, getting a 28 degrees Celsius thermal water and offering its guests a large array of services: steam baths, pools, mineral water baths and mud baths. After 1948, Simay Public Baths chaneged the name into "Sanatatea Communal Baths" and continued offering its services to the people of Arad. Today the building preserved its charm,but not its initial function. The monumental building is today split in different areas: the groundfloor functioned until recently as a premium club and event center, the first floor is split in apartments, the basement hosts a salina , but ony partially, as most of it is not in use, just like the attic. The building is in a good condition, the facade was fully renovated in 2020, while most of the buiilding is also well maintained and in use. With a rich history, a stunning architecture and a very good location, the former Simay Baths can be turned in a very chic hotel or a mixed function facility
