This fantastic property, which was once a butter factory and bakery, has been skilfully transformed into two villas. The intervention aimed to rehabilitate the old factory, located in an expanding residential area, while preserving its simple, typically local architecture. The preservation of the factory's original volume was fundamental, maintaining its structure but with a contemporary approach that respects the building's historic lines. The interior of the factory has been completely renovated, maintaining the original distribution of the two floors. The lower floor comprises a kitchen, laundry, storage and a large dining room and living room with a fireplace. The upper floor houses three bedrooms, all en suite. To create a visual separation between the two buildings, the bedrooms on the upper floor have been set back from the external walls of the factory, creating the impression that they are suspended. This separation is supported by horizontal metal beams, allowing natural light to flow between the spaces, emphasising the division between old and new and giving the building a lightness that contrasts with the solidity of the factory. With regard to the old bakery supporting the factory, the intervention aims to preserve its location, volume and formal characteristics. The proposal was to build a new building in its place, respecting the original form, but with a simple functional programme, spread over two floors: a small living room and kitchen on the lower floor and two bedrooms on the upper floor.
