据相关消息，希拉里提出让STEM留学生毕业后就能拿绿卡，那么，她这样做是否会让选票多一些呢？

希拉里、川普的美国总统竞选已经进入白热化，双方已经使出浑身解数吸引民众，引爆舆论界。小编从官方网站了解到希拉里吸引人才大计划，近期，希拉里在自己的竞选官网hillaryclinton.com上公布了各项科技创新相关的计划(Hillary Clinton’s Initiative on Technology & Innovation)，其中一点相当劲爆，将会影响千万STEM专业的在美留学生及毕业生。在吸引和保留全世界优质人才一项中，希拉里团队宣称：将会给从认证机构毕业的STEM专业外籍研究生及博士生提供绿卡!

假如希拉里当选，政策得到推行，那么将有不少的中国留学生受益。据美国非盈利组织“国际教育机构(Institute of International Education)”公布新的2015年公开数据显示，2014-2015学年间，有超过30万的中国留学生来美留学，其中超过30%的中国留学生选择了STEM专业。

据有关报道希拉里并非首个提出“STEM毕业生人才与绿卡订在一起”的人，共和党总统提名候选人米特·罗姆尼(Mitt Romney)就曾经提出类似提议，并在国会得到了两党的支持。按照希拉里的计划，学生可以在毕业找到雇主时即拿到绿卡;而不需要像现在这样先申请工作签证，经过H-1B的抽签，然后再等漫长的排期(最长可能有10年)才获得绿卡。2016年，在美学习的中国留学生有30多万，其中1/3学习的是理工科相关专业。

STEM，即science科学、technology科技、engineering工程、mathematic数学，通常的STEM专业包括工程类、生命科学、环境科学、建筑学、物理、化学、计算机相关专业。

现在的STEM专业的学生已经在美国有优势，本来12个月OPT(Optional Practical Training)国际学生实习期，STEM学生可以额外获得24个月，总共36个月的OPT在美实习期，可以足够国际学生可以和雇主磨合信任，找到稳定的工作。确实，当年美国政府的STEM计划也是为了吸引人才，鼓励学生主修工程、计算机等理科专业，让学生毕业后可以去硅谷编代码、做科研、搞技术创新，提升其全球的竞争力。
