One of the most famous such estates was that of the vornic Iordache Golescu who in 1831 owned the Căteasca or Popești estate and the Ratesti or Tufeanca estate. When the agrarian reform of 1921 started, things have changed. In a sale deed from 1904 we find out that Elena Maria Golescu, the vornic's successor, sells the entire estate called Tompa from Căteasca to the well-known landowner Constantin Zamfirescu. He owned over 800 hectares of agricultural land, with manors, orchards, vineyards, forests and meadows in the Argeș region. We can assume that in this manor his son, Constantin Zamfirescu-Căteasca, was born in 1895. A prominent leader of the PNL, he was elected, several times, deputy of Argeș, he also held the position of president of the Argeș county organization, he was a close collaborator of I Gh. Duca and Dinu Brătianu. In May 1944, he was part of the political leadership of the opposition, together with Bebe Brătianu and other political leaders, and drafted the action program for Romania's exit from the war and the participation along the Allies. After August 23, he became minister of war production in the governments chaired by Generals Constantin Sanatescu and Nicolae Radescu.
