We all dream of the classic private get-away-from-it-all tropical island retreat. White sand beaches, turquoise blue water, coconut palms waving in the breeze – Nanukulevu Island has it all. Approximately 12 acres of leasehold land, surrounded completely with a white sand beach, brilliant swimming – all the water sports, fishing, diving and boating.
Nanukulevu Island is situated to the north of Fiji’s third largest island, Taveuni Island. In the distance you can see Laucala Island – owned by the Red Bull owner. Access is easiest through Matei on Taveuni Island and a boat trip of up to 2 hours depending on the vessel. Or even better, helicopter or float plane from Nadi. You will feel isolated but you will have all the features of modern living. Solar power, wi-fi access, a desalination plant and sewage systems are all in place and the main bure accommodation is 90% complete – a spend of around US$500,000 will complete what is there and more if you want to stamp your own mark on the island – the main attraction is that all the hard work has been done. In the video you will see the main bure with its seven suites and huge entertainment areas – views of the ocean from every room. This is supported by substantial infrastructure and staff accommodation.
The only reason the current owners are selling is failing health – they are extremely disappointed they can’t complete their dream holiday retreat, but it gives an opportunity for someone else to pick up reigns and build and live in a fantastic environment. The island is a breeding ground for endangered turtles, in fact the owners retrieve and nurture the baby turtles until they are large enough to make their own way in the ocean.
